Demolition in Indiantown

Indiantown's Village Building Division requires its own Demolition Asbestos and Lead Paint Notification Statement on every demolition and renovation, signed by the contractor. The form names the Martin County Health Department for asbestos notice and requires lead paint in buildings from before 1978 to be handled under 40 CFR 745.

State rules send the demolition asbestos notice to the FDEP Southeast District, at least 10 working days before work, so the Village form and the state process point at different agencies. We file both rather than pick one. The survey comes from an independent licensed consultant we arrange, and any removal goes to a licensed abatement firm.

Indiantown incorporated on December 31, 2017, the first new municipality in the county in more than 40 years. Applications moved to Civic Access on January 22, 2026, paper is still accepted, and the Village builds to the 2023 Florida Building Code, 8th edition. Its permit packets call for a Notice of Commencement above a set job value and an Owner-Builder affidavit when the owner does the work.

The town grew from a Seminole trading post. S. Davies Warfield brought the Seaboard Air Line Railroad through in 1924 and planned a model city; the 1926 bust, his death and the 1928 hurricane ended it, and the Seminole Inn is almost all that remains of the boom.

What we quote in Indiantown

Demolition quoted in this area

The sequence

Six stages, start to closed permit

Romco Builders is a licensed Florida general contractor, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. A carport and a commercial building follow these stages in the same order.

  1. Describe the job

Phone or use the form. Tell us the address, what comes down and what stays. Photos or a survey help.

  2. Site visit

We look at the structure, the live services, access for trucks, trees, the seawall or water's edge, and any association rules.

  3. Written scope with a price

Removal, protection, hauling and anything that hangs on the asbestos survey appear as separate lines.

  4. Notices, releases, permit

The licensed survey and FDEP notice where required, the utility releases, then the application to the correct office.

  5. Demolition and hauling

Work follows the agreed order, and debris goes to the county transfer facility in Palm City or another licensed site.

  6. Inspection and close

The final inspection passes and the permit closes, leaving a level lot or the shell you specified.

Questions

Demolition in Indiantown

Does a single-family teardown in Indiantown need a tree permit?

Usually not. Under the Village's Land Development Regulations, Sec. 4-5, removing a tree on a single-family or duplex lot needs no permit unless the species is protected. The Village still calls for barricades, inspections and approval before tree removal. Check the species list with the Village before clearing, and leave the tree work to a licensed tree contractor, which we coordinate.

What drives the cost of a demolition?

Six things move the number most: the building's size and construction, what the asbestos survey finds, the utility and septic work to coordinate, site access, debris weight, and what the permit office requires. We do not publish prices, because a guess is worse than none. Send the property survey and photos, and we return a written number after we walk the site.

Is an asbestos inspection required before a Martin teardown?

For most buildings, yes. FDEP requires a thorough inspection by a state-licensed consultant before any planned demolition it covers, and a notice to its Southeast District at least 10 working days ahead, even when no asbestos turns up. We arrange the survey with an independent licensed consultant and bring in a licensed abatement firm if needed. Romco does not abate asbestos.

How long before the work can start?

We do not promise dates, because the lead items belong to others. FDEP needs its notice at least 10 working days ahead where it applies, Sunshine 811 needs at least 2 full business days, and FPL sets its own disconnect date. Permit review depends on the office. Once those are known, we give you a written sequence.
